Graffiti sits in our peripheral vision. Often just behind us, above us or in front of us and yet we still don't see it. Through the clutter of traffic and the silence amongst noise is art scattered in precarious positions. This building just behind the Bank has become the perfect spot to paint. Long sweeping views downslope provides the pedestrian with a cinematic experience. Amongst the work is internationally famous, US based former couple Utah and Ether from their 2016 spray-cation. To beggars belief a series of old Bonez throw-ups from 70K crew potentially circa early 2000's.

Aerosol graffiti comes in three basic forms, tags, throw-ups and pieces. Out of the three forms pieces dominate the media. Not enough attention is given to throw-ups and their role in society. Throw-ups are often associated with bombing (the act of putting up work on many surfaces quickly). Throw-ups tend to be concentrated- 

• around areas that are buffed regularly
• high profile sites, trackside walls, roadside walls
• places where tags have accumulated often becoming layered and indecipherable   
• where there is not enough time to paint a piece

This is one of Melbourne's finest throw-ups. Its very sad to see toys going over, well respected writers.  

NOST!

In your face, don't give fuck attitude and they're about to come and bomb throw-ups on your house. Nost crew is a law onto themselves. Graffiti has loose rules, and most artists follow them as a guide. Nost ignores the no go zones and constantly pioneers new spots that have never seen a spray-can. We don't know it now but Nost and Pork are the  equivalent of 70K back in the early 2000's. Pushing boundaries, getting good spots (heavens), abandoned buildings, train lines and trying many different styles. If they were arrested now they'd still have 100's of tags, throwies and pieces around Melbourne for years. They have successfully smashed the system, probably harder than any crew has ever done before.  

Whiz Kid

I salute Whiz. Such a accomplished writer, constantly getting up in the East, Inner-North and Central parts of Melbourne. He has got one of the best throw-ups going around in Melbourne. It takes a lot of skill to produce hollow throw-ups (no fill) in tight spaces. If you make a mistake, you can't redo the fill or lines, its there for everyone to see. Throw-ups are highly under-rated and tend to get neglected. Australia's most popular graffiti Facebook page, Melburn Graffiti just doesn't post enough throwies.

W is a notoriously difficult letter to work with in graff but Whiz does it with ease and originality.
