The Northern suburbs where graffiti runs free. There's no evidence of any buffing history on this wall, strangely... The clustered lettering of the graffiti pieces/throw-ups below shows the desperation of artists using the limited wall space available. 

Private Graffiti

Graffiti is part of Melbourne culture just like trams or sport. Graffiti is spread throughout Melbourne. The epicenter of the scene is in the Inner-Northern Suburbs of Fitzroy, Collingwood, Brunswick and Clifton Hill. These suburbs have embraced urban art. They haven't fully accepted graffiti in its entirety. However its more recognized, and noticed than any other suburb. The photo shows the transition of graffiti from public spaces into private yards.

Newtown, Sydney

Welcome to Newtown, Sydney. A culturally diverse inner-western suburb of Sydney. This is Sydney's equivalent of Melbourne's trendy Brunswick, Collingwood, Fitzroy region or vice versa. Its an interesting place and worth a visit. This like many other inner-city suburbs focuses more on street art rather than graffiti. The stickers have become important element in softening this urban landscape.   

 

Each sign is plastered with stickers. It appears the local council has supported it and even approved unusually small speed limit text on such a large sign. From these signs we can see a number of influential artists.
