Artists continue to bomb the billboard which is visible from the city loop trainline. Nost pushes the envelope further and is still able to find new spots despite painting half the city already.
A grassroots interpretation of graffiti and overlooked culture in neglected urban landscapes.

Back streets of Richmond
Melbourne is full of intricate laneways. Find a main road in the inner city-suburbs like Brunswick St, Nicholson St, High St or many others and go for a wander. Chances are you find a graffiti "littering the walls". More often then not you'll find more detailed works than what you find on the main streets. Laneways and alleys provide time for the artist to perfect a piece and take the time. Secluded spaces away from cops and angry wankers are a key part to Melbourne's Graffiti Culture.

Putos
Well known graffiti artist in inner Melbourne suburbs. Very unique art-form and one of the few who seems to just paint characters. Many others throw-up a character quickly onto the wall whereas putos often finds good spots and spends time creating, intricate pieces.
Brick wall view
This character epitomizes life in a big city. The low eyes with bags underneath illustrates a combination of sadness and loneliness. It can be interpreted as "we have all the material wealth we dreamed for but what do we really want to do next?"

Residential piece
Opposite the Mordialloc High School lies this legal piece. This is a well executed piece with a complex letter-form. It incorporates a stylized character which is cheekily admiring the piece. Nice use of a wide range of colours including non traditional fill of pink and light blue.

"What a Character!"
In Melbourne, graffiti is more than just tags. These photos are examples of crews that use characters as their tag or calling card. The most infamous is of course is the Cat. Seen in the northern suburbs and particularly inner-west. It takes a lot of technique to develop a character in which you can throw-up quickly.
Merri Creek, Alien Wizard
The wiz is like an extra terrestrial alien, with quint-essential, Australian cork hat for the funkin blow flies.

Adelaide
I went to Adelaide, South Australia back in July 2012 and stayed a week. This is some of the art in the CBD on display. There's definitely more graffiti around along the train lines.
Its good to see accomplished roller works about (its a rare sight). This guy whoever they are gets up. This character gives the viewer a somewhat confusing feeling "is it this way or that way?"
Door shows a range of approaches to tagging. From abstract to lasso style. Note the range of different mediums used texta, white out, chalk marker, drip texta, aerosol paint and ?chalk.
